Exploring the Best of Mendoza: 6 Must-Do Activities in Argentina's Wine Country

Mendoza is the number one destination for vineyards in Argentina; it's renowned in the world for its Malbec. They have great bodegas and tours available, and the food is exquisite. Although there is not much else to do apart from the bodegas and a few other things, Mendoza was still a trip that lingers in my mind, and I would absolutely go back if possible.

1. Stop for lunch at Casa Vigil

Casa Vigil (El Enemigo) Bodega was THE highlight of the trip. This is their restaurant and storefront location, but they have vineyards at another location as well. They have different options available; you can do a wine tasting from their own collection with a tour of the estate, or you can have lunch with wine pairing. We did both, and it was truly amazing—from the estate to the wine and food, and the staff—it felt like paradise on earth. Just make sure you book ahead of time for all of the vineyards as they can get sold out depending on the period you are going.

2. Do a wine tour at Alfa Crux vineyards

We went to a second vineyard called Alfa Crux, which was great for a wine tour and snacks. They will walk you through the whole process of making wine and the history of their estate, and you will get to taste a few of their wines. Just make sure to go with a taxi or a tour bus, as the police a waiting in the area, so don't drink and drive.

3. Have dinner at Azafran

Azafran restaurant offers an amazing fine dinning experience. They have a 7 course dinner with wine paring, that was quite amazing. And with currency exchange it is very affordable for this type of fine dinning.

4. Head to Aristides street for drinks and dinner

Aristides Villanueva is one of the main street of Mendoza that is animated at night. You can find a lot of restaurants and bars there. People go out pretty late so don't go too early.

5. Take a walk at Parque General San Martin

You can go for an afternoon walk at Parque General San Martin. It's a great place for a picnic, a walk to get away from the pollution of the city.

6. Go to the Thermal Baths

If you have a car you can go take a little day trip to Termas de Cacheuta and even take hikes in the area. You also have buses available that go from Mendoza to the thermal baths.
